Laura Plansker

"Growing up between Detroit, Los Angeles, and New York, Laura Plansker got her start in photography as a child, taking pictures of dolls having tea parties and stuffed animals hanging from trees in her backyard. She continued her passion for photography through college receiving a BFA from The Center for Creative Studies in Detroit Michigan. She spent her fourth year studying in New York through the Alliance of Independent Colleges of Art Studio Program and interning at The Polaroid 20x24 Studio. In conjunction with photography she has spent many years set decorating and constructing miniatures for both film and commercials. It is through this combination of fields that her work has developed into the detailed world of photo-dioramas. Her overwhelming desire to jump the boats at Disney Land rides and live among the animatronic puppets or to climb inside the TV set to explore the worlds of Rankin and Bass' holiday films has been a great influence for creating her own magical worlds. Laura currently lives in Los Angeles and continues trying to create a photo-diorama that one day she might crawl into and never return." ~Laura Plansker

Stephen Wiltshire

Stephen Wiltshire draws and paints cityscape such as Tokyo from memory. Yes, drawing "accurate representations of cities" only from his memory, "sometimes after having only observed them briefly." He must be a genius...

Movie Album Food

"What to see
What to hear
What to eat
At the same time...

A modest attempt to
join our three favorite things in the world:
film, music and eating; forcing them to live
on a single space." ~Movie Album Food

Eric Zener

'"Looking through artist Eric Zener's underwater paintings, you start to immediately remember what it feels like to be immersed in cool, clear water. That moment when the world's worries wash away and a sense of calmness overtakes your body. Zener calls that shared feeling our "quest for refuge and peace beneath the chaos of life."

What was his inspiration?

Zener watched his wife give birth to two children. He nearly drowned on the Rogue River in Oregon. He has watched friends and family battle illness. "Where do I put my energy? It shows up in my work," Zener said. "I paint these images as a cathartic relief for myself. And hopefully, the viewing of the paintings is cathartic for other people."

"My work is about psychological turning points and transformations and risk, taking that proverbial leap of faith, balanced with that quest for finding refuge, finding quietness and stillness and escapism," he said. "Some [paintings] are very, very introspective escapism. Some are just the joy, the pool full of people in this temporary oasis. The 10 minutes when you hit the water for the first time and the smell of sun tan lotion hits your nose. You really don't think about anything for those first few minutes."' ~My Modern Met

"People love to take photos of my dog Homer. Homer spends most of his days sleeping and playing serving as the mascot of 360SEE gallery in the Bucktown neighborhood of Chicago at 1924 N. Damen Avenue. Come and take a photo of Homer -- but don't be surprised if we take a photo of you in return." ~Photos of People Taking Photos of My Dog Blog
